ZE:A’s Im Si-wan, Kim Hee-won to reunite in new film ‘Smartphone’

Actors Im Si-wan and Kim Hee-won are reportedly set to reunite as leads in the upcoming thriller movie Smartphone (working title).

On September 7, an insider from the film industry revealed that the two stars have recently decided to take on the project and are currently in the process of finalizing the details of their participation.

Smartphone depicts the untoward incidents that unfold when an ordinary office worker loses his mobile phone.

Im Si-wan has signed up to portray a regular corporate employee who loses his smartphone and subsequently taps the police to help him find it. Following his formal movie debut in The Attorney (2013), Im ventured into voice acting by dubbing the Korean voice of Blu, the clumsy but funny blue macaw character in the popular American animated film Rio 2 (2014). From then on, he played memorable roles in various movies such as A Melody to Remember (2016), One-Line (2017), and The Merciless (2017). Im Si-wan is currently working on the aviation disaster movie Emergency Declaration, where he is set to star alongside A-list actors Song Kang-ho and Lee Byung-hun. As his other film Boston 1947, with co-star Ha Jung-woo, remains to be released, Im is anticipated to headline three potential blockbusters in the near future.

Meanwhile, Kim Hee-won, who has previously worked with Im in the critically well-received drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014), will act with him again as the detective assigned to track his character’s missing smartphone. Kim has also made significant appearances in films throughout his career, such as in Another Child (2019), My Punch-Drunk Boxer (2019), and The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful (2019). Like Im Si-wan, Kim Hee-won is expected to grace the big screen soon in the films The Golden Holiday and Pawn.

Smartphone targets to begin shooting early next year after completing its casting lineup.
