‘Youth of May’ star Lee Sang-yi to join Shin Min-ah, Kim Seon-ho in new drama

Lee Sang-yi will star in the upcoming tvN series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, his agency PLK Good Friends shared Thursday, June 3.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is a romantic-comedy drama that follows Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-ah, Chief of Staff 2), a righteous and ambitious dentist who ends up moving to the seaside village Gongjin, and Hong Doo-sik (Kim Seon-ho, Start-Up), an unemployed all-rounder known in Gongjin as “Chief Hong” for helping locals with almost anything.

Lee Sang-yi, who is currently gracing the small screen in the KBS2 melodrama Youth of May, has signed up to play Ji Sung-hyun. Sung-hyun is a star, variety-show producing director (PD) who has the Midas touch in the entertainment industry. He is a workaholic but has a bright personality. He is also quite famous for his celebrity-like appearance.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, also known as Seaside Village Chachacha, is a drama adaptation of the 2004 South Korean film Mr. Hong. The series will be spearheaded by writer Shin Ha-eun of The Crowned Clown (2019) and director Yoo Je-won of Hi Bye, Mama! (2020).

It is scheduled for broadcast during the second half of the year.
