Yoona of Girls’ Generation courted for JTBC office drama ‘Hush’

Girls’ Generation’s Yoona is in talks to star in a new JTBC office drama called Hush, her agency SM Entertainment said on March 11.

Based on the novel “Silence Warning,” Hush is an office drama that will focus on the everyday lives and struggles of newspaper reporters. Yoona has been offered the role of an intern who is new to the newspaper industry. Her character is caught between justice and reality as she strives to follow her ideals while also doing well at her job.

If Yoona confirms her appearance, she will be making her drama comeback after three years. She last played a TV lead role in the 2017 historical drama The King In Love opposite Im Si-wan. She recently established herself as a movie star through the 2019 film Exit.

Meanwhile, veteran movie actor Hwang Jung-min had been confirmed last month to take the lead role in the drama opposite Yoona. He will portray an experienced reporter who chose his job to make the world a better place but now finds himself facing dilemmas about his ideals. He is expected to be in a mentor-mentee relationship with Yoona’s character.

Hwang is known for iconic movies like The Spy Gone North (2018) and The Wailing (2016). In his career spanning over 30 years, he has appeared in only two dramas. Hush will mark his first series in 8 years.

Hush is expected to air in the second half of the year.
