Singer-actress Yoona is now confirmed to play the female lead role in the new JTBC drama called Hush, a representative from the series announced on March 25.
Based on the novel “Silence Warning” by Jung Jin-young, Hush will tell the story of newspaper reporters and other office employees as they go through struggles and face dilemmas while fulfilling their duties.
Yoona signed up for the role of Lee Ji-soo, a bold intern reporter who strives to follow her ideals while also doing well at her job. Hush is her first drama in three years, following her 2017 historical series The King in Love.
Meanwhile, movie actor Hwang Jung-min will star in the series as Han Joon-hyeok, an upright and experienced reporter who now finds himself in a dilemma over his ideals. Yoona’s character begins to dream of becoming a “real” journalist after she meets Han Joon-hyeok.
Hwang Jung-min most recently appeared in the film The Spy Gone North (2018) and is now also confirmed to join Hyun Bin in a new thriller film. He starred in only two dramas in the past—Korean Peninsula (2012) and The Accidental Couple (2009).
Hush will be broadcast on JTBC in the second half of the year.
