Yoo In-na, Lim Ju-hwan pose as picture-perfect couple in new stills from ‘The Spies Who Loved Me’

MBC has released new stills featuring two of the main stars of its upcoming spy-themed series that the viewers can swoon over!

The Spies Who Loved Me follows a woman and her accidental involvement in the world of espionage due to her link to two skilled spies: her ex-husband and her present husband. It stars Yoo In-na (Touch Your Heart) as wedding designer Kang Ah-reum, who gets entangled in the world of spies and secret missions; Shinhwa’s Eric Mun (Eccentric! Chef Moon) as her ex-husband Jun Ji-hoon, who is an undercover Interpol agent; and Lim Ju-hwan (The Game: Towards Zero) as her current husband Derek Hyun, who also leads a double life as a corporate spy.

Yoo In-na, Lim Ju-hwan in The Spies Who Loved Me

On October 8, MBC’s new Wednesday and Thursday drama unveiled the stills of Yoo In-na and Lim Ju-hwan‘s characters, who play a married couple who look very much in love in the series. The photos released feature Kang Ah-reum and Derek Hyun’s everyday married life. At home, Derek cooks and prepares a meal for his wife and would afterward drive her to work. As a loving husband, Derek does everything to make his wife happy. Ah-reum, on the other hand, looks very happy and smiles warmly towards her husband, her eyes sparkling as she happily links her arms with Derek’s.

However, Derek’s aura immediately changes as soon as Ah-reum leaves, revealing his cold look and erasing the romantic gaze he had earlier. Derek feels genuinely in love with Ah-reum. However, he cannot reveal his true identity as an industrial spy so he keeps his disguise as a diplomat. In one eventful day, Ji-hoon suddenly reappears in Ah-reum’s life, creating conflict in their marriage.

Asked about her co-star who will play her husband, Yoo In-na commented, “Lim Ju-hwan is always friendly and fun to be with at the production set. He films happily, and the working atmosphere is also pleasant.”

Lim Ju-hwan, on the other hand, expressed his fascination with the romantic-comedy genre and shared praises for his leading lady, “[I like the feeling of being in a] romantic-comedy series, and Yoo In-na is splendid, as always. She perfectly expresses the charm of Kang Ah-reum, which makes acting natural and comfortable between the both of us.”

The Spies Who Loved Me is spearheaded by director Lee Jae-jin of The Banker (2019) and writer Lee Ji-min, who will be making her debut work for a TV series. The series is scheduled to air on October 21 at 9:30 p.m. KST, taking over the time slot currently occupied by When I Was the Most Beautiful

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
