WINNER’s Seungyoon confirms role in upcoming MBC drama ‘Kairos’

Kang Seung-yoon of the boy band WINNER will be appearing in the new MBC drama Kairos, as confirmed by his agency, YG Entertainment, on May 20.

Kairos is a multi-genre series that centers around a father whose daughter gets kidnapped and a young woman whose mother also disappeared. The two begin communicating amidst a time-warp, with one living one month in the past and the other in the present, in a struggle to reverse the tragedies that have taken away their loved ones.

Joining previously announced cast members Shin Sung-rok (Vagabond), Lee Se-young (Memorist), Ahn Bo-hyun (Itaewon Class), and Nam Gyu-ri (Different Dreams), Kang Seung-yoon will act as Lim Gun-wook, an unpopular student in school but a reliable friend to Han Ae-ri, the character taken by Lee Se-young. By always supporting her in times of need, Gun-wook plays an important part in Ae-ri’s search for her missing mother.

Kang Seung-yoon (known mononymously as Seungyoon or Yoon) made his small-screen debut in the MBC sitcom High Kick! 3 in 2011 to 2012. He has also done cameo appearances in the 2015 KBS2 comedy series The Producers. To further his career, the K-pop idol portrayed lead roles in the web-dramas We Broke Up (2015) and Love for a Thousand More (2016), which were released in the South Korean online broadcast network Naver TV Cast. Kang’s most recent acting work was in tvN’s black comedy series Prison Playbook in 2017.

About the current project, Kang said, “I still have a lot to learn, but I will make sure not to become a burden to the people I will be working with. I would appreciate it if you watch me with a warm heart.”

Helming the series is director Park Seung-woo of the 2019 drama Spring Turns to Spring while penning the script is writer Lee Soo-hyun. Kairos is scheduled to broadcast in the second half of 2020.

Now, she spends more time watching Kdramas in her home in Cebu (yes, Bisaya ni bai) and Kdramapal provides her a platform to write about them as a means of living. How cool is that? And oh, she obviously loves the northern lights too!
