SBS’s supernatural romance drama While You Were Sleeping topped the list of the most buzzworthy Korean dramas from September 25 to October 1 and has again claimed the top spot in the latest ranking, proving itself as a popular series and pushing Age of Youth 2 to the second place. According to Good Data Corporation, which conducts the research and releases a ranking of dramas based on the online buzz they make, While You Were Sleeping came in first with 20.9 percent of the total buzz.
JTBC’s Age of Youth 2, which held the first place four times since its premiere, lost to the new SBS drama sixth week into its seven-week broadcast and occupied the second place in the latest ranking. It is followed by another SBS dramas Temperature of Love and Sister Is Alive which ranked third and fourth, respectively. KBS2’s My Golden Life climbed up three places from the previous ranking to complete the top 5 but Sister Is Alive remains the top weekend series.
Rounding out the top 10 are MBC’s Hospital Ship, KBS2’s Lingerie Girls’ Generation, MBC’s daily drama Return of Bok Dan-Ji, MBC’s Borg Mom, and KBS2’s special drama Kang Duk Soon’s Love History. The ranking, which was released on October 10, is based on the study of 30 dramas conducted from October 2 to 8 by analyzing netizen responses through online news, blogs, communities, videos, and social media posts.
While You Were Sleeping tells the story of a woman who can predict the future through her dreams and a rookie prosecutor who has mysteriously obtained the same ability after meeting her. It premiered on September 27 for a 32-episode broadcast every Wednesdays and Thursdays. Not only did the series took over Age of Youth 2 as the most buzzworthy drama, but it also unseated Hospital Ship from its five-week dominance in viewership ratings on the Wednesday-Thursday primetime block. As a series headlined by internationally known Korean stars Lee Jong-suk and Bae Suzy and created by I Hear Your Voice screenwriter and My Love From The Star director, While You Were Sleeping is expected to rise in popularity in the coming weeks.
