‘Welcome to Waikiki 2’ releases character posters of main cast

Welcome to Waikiki 2 released on March 13 the official character posters of its main cast—Lee Yi-kyung, Kim Sun-ho, Shin Hyun-soo, Moon Ga-young, Ahn Soo-hee, and Kim Ye-won.

The new series is a sequel to Welcome To Waikiki (also known as Eulachacha Waikiki), which received love from viewers for its funny but meaningful story. Like the first season, the new installment deals with the friendship, dreams, and love of the main characters as they live together and struggle to run a guesthouse that is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Lee Yi-kyung (Children of Nobody) is the only cast from season 1 who came back in season 2 to reprise his role. He plays Lee Joon-ki, the owner of guesthouse Waikiki who is desperate to make it a money-making business that will ultimately fund his plans to become an actor. In his poster, he holds a trophy and appears pleased with himself. The caption reads: “I’ll do anything to succeed.”

Unlike in season 1 where Lee Joon-ki’s male buddies are his college friends, his partners in the second season are his high school friends. Shin Hyun-soo (My Golden Life) plays one of two, named Kook Ki-bong. He is a baseball star who used to play in the major league and earn millions of won. However, he suffered from a shoulder injury that prevented him from playing the important games. He is convinced by Lee Joon-ki to invest in Waikiki and thus used up all his savings. In his poster, he wears a glove and holds a baseball. The caption says, “Tomorrow, the sun will rise for me.”

Lee Joon-ki’s second partner in running Waikiki is Cha Woo-sik, played by Kim Sun-ho (Feel Good To Die). He used to be in an idol group that did not succeed and now he performs at weddings and other similar events, but he secretly longs for a big comeback. With a guitar in his arms, he says, “As long as it pays, I’ll do anything!” It is no wonder that he also falls victim to Lee’s plans and invest his money in the unprofitable guesthouse.

Moon Ga-young‘s (Great Seducer) character, Han Soo-yeon, is everyone’s first love during her high school days. She grew up without having to exert much effort but is suddenly humiliated on her wedding day and ends up living with her high school buddies in Waikiki. She wears a wedding veil and a white suit. Her poster’s caption reads: “A princess to beggar, the tables have turned!”

Ahn So-hee (Entourage) takes on the role of Kim Jung-eun, a woman who works multiple part-time jobs. She is a Theater and Film major like Lee Joon-ki but gives up her dreams of becoming an actress. To save on rent, she decides to live with her friends in Waikiki. She is shown holding folders and a calculator, with a caption that says, “Give me all the part-time jobs!”

Finally, Kim Ye-won (Heart Surgeons) plays Cha Yoo-ri, a former chef at a hotel. She quit her job to be with her brother Cha Woo-sik. While she has the determination to start her own restaurant, she ends up jobless and without money. Wearing an apron, she declares, “I’ll take care of Waikiki!”
