WEi’s Yohan, So Joo-yeon, Yeo Hoe-hyun confirmed to star in Korean remake of hit Chinese drama ‘A Love So Beautiful’

The Korean remake of the hit Chinese series A Love So Beautiful has already found its leads in young stars Kim Yo-han, So Joo-yeon, and Yeo Hoe-hyun!

A Love So Beautiful is set in Chun Ji High School and tells the story of a 17-year-old girl’s seemingly unrequited first love for her neighbor slash classmate. However, things start to change when a new student transfers to their school and shows admiration for her.

Kim Yo-han signed up to play Cha Heon, a good-looking and brilliant student. He appears to be indifferent and insensitive, but deep inside, he actually cares for others and is just an awkward teenager who is not so good at expressing himself.

Kim, also known by his mononym Yohan, received positive attention for finishing first in Mnet’s reality-survival program Produce X 101. He then made his debut as one of the 11 members of X1, but the group disbanded in January of 2020 due to allegations of vote-rigging in the show. In July, Yohan was announced as one of the members of Oui Entertainment’s new boy group WEi. The upcoming series will mark Yohan’s first venture into the field of acting.

Meanwhile, So Joo-yeon will take on the role of Shin Sol-yi, a clumsy but cheerful girl who always brings an optimistic attitude wherever she goes. She has had a crush on Cha Heon ever since she can remember. Despite only receiving coldness from him, she always finds new ways to show how much she cares for Cha Heon, hoping that one day, he will take notice and reciprocate her feelings.

So made her acting debut in the web series Not Alright, but It’s Alright in 2018. She then went on to portray remarkable supporting roles in series such as My Healing Love (2018–2019), I Hate Going to Work (2019), and the latest, SBS’s medical-themed drama Dr. Romantic 2 (2020).

Completing the trio is actor Yeo Hoe-hyun who will transform into the talented swimmer and transfer student Woo Dae-sung. He begins to get interested in Sol-yi, but he prefers to confess to her by always staying at her side, caring for her, and protecting her. However, he appears to be climbing a steep mountain as Sol-yi’s heart seems to be beating only for Cha Heon.

Yeo has left a lasting impression for his performances in previous dramas including Short (2018), Marry Me Now? (2018), and Leverage (2019).

The original work gained massive popularity, reaching 3.7 billion views when it aired in 2017. It also made quite a buzz when it reached South Korea via the streaming giant Netflix. The upcoming adaptation will be a digital drama and is to be optimized for mobile viewing.

The Korean version of A Love So Beautiful will be released on a new platform by KakaoM and Kakao this year and will have 24 episodes, each with a 20-minute runtime.
