‘WATCHER’ makers Ahn Gil-ho, Han Sang-woon to reunite in new drama

Director Ahn Gil-ho and screenwriter Han Sang-woon are set to collaborate once again in the upcoming series Happiness.

Studio Dragon, the drama production, marketing, and distribution company that worked on the hit dramas Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017), Mr. Sunshine (2018), Crash Landing on You (2019–2020), and Start-Up (2020), among many others, shared the news on February 26. “Ahn Gil-ho will direct and Han Sang-woon will write the new drama Happiness. It will be produced by Studio Dragon,” the company revealed.

Happiness is described as a project that will showcase people’s fears and desires. It will reportedly also ask questions about whether the existing human values will remain unchanged despite the prevalence of a new infectious disease and the need for survival during such a time.

Ahn Gil-ho (Record of Youth) and Han Sang-woon (The Good Wife) previously brought their creative minds to the small screen in the 2019 OCN series WATCHER. The crime thriller follows three people connected by a murder that happened 15 years ago. By fate, they meet again and begin a dangerous journey in uncovering the truth of their past and exposing the dark secrets and corruption within the police force. The drama, which stars Dr. Romantic 2’s Han Suk-kyu, The Miracle We Met’s Kim Hyun-joo, and When the Weather Is Fine’s Seo Kang-joon, currently holds the third highest viewership rating in OCN.

According to a report by Ilgan Sports, the casting for Happiness is currently underway, while the broadcaster and organization schedule remain undecided.
