Upcoming MBC drama ‘Kairos’ drops captivating first stills of lead stars Shin Sung-rok, Lee Se-young

MBC’s Kairos has shared a sneak peek of lead actors Shin Sung-rok and Lee Se-young as they transform into their remarkable characters in the upcoming fantasy-thriller series.

Kairos tells the story of a father who falls into despair when his young daughter gets kidnapped and a woman who loses heart when her mother goes missing. Fate allows them to communicate amidst a time warp, with one living in the present and the other in the past, as they both struggle to reverse the tragedies that have taken away their loved ones.

In the freshly released stills from the drama, Shin Sung-rok (Vagabond) melts flawlessly into his character Kim Seo-jin, a man who is highly driven to achieve success in life. He looks like a dedicated worker for Yoojung Construction, whether he charms in his uniform or acts sharply in his suit and tie. As a result of his efforts, he becomes the youngest executive at his company. His almost perfect life takes a drastic turn, however, when his daughter with violinist wife Kang Hyun-chae (Nam Gyu-ri, Different Dreams) gets abducted by an unidentified criminal. In his desperate attempt to get her back, he finds himself contacting an equally distressed woman who is living approximately one month in the past.

Meanwhile, Lee Se-young (Memorist) draws attention as she gives life to the female protagonist Han Ae-ri, a student who juggles multiple part-time jobs to raise funds for her mother’s surgery. On top of confidently rocking a layered, short haircut, Ae-ri’s expressions in the photos all project that the young woman means nothing but serious business. Despite the huge weight on her shoulders, Ae-ri keeps a positive disposition and endures every hardship for her sick mother Kwak Song-ja (Hwang Jung-min, Love Affairs in the Afternoon). But one day, Song-ja disappears without notice. As Ae-ri loses sense of direction and falls into misery, a man named Kim Seo-jin, who claims to be from the future and has a similar predicament, reaches out and forms a connection with her.

The pairing of two remarkable actors Shin and Lee, who have both left lasting impressions for their portrayals in previous projects, raises the viewer’s expectations for the unique and gripping new series.

Kairos is helmed by Park Seung-woo, director of Spring Turns to Spring (2019), and penned by screenwriter Lee Soo-hyun of Crime Squad (2011). It is scheduled to premiere on October 26 and air every Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. KST.
