Upcoming KBS2 drama ‘Police Class’ unveils official roll of main cast

KBS2’s new drama Police Class has officially found its main stars in Cha Tae-hyun, Jung Jin-young (Jinyoung), and Krystal Jung.

Police Class follows a detective who is always on the move to catch criminals and a former hacker who can solve just about anything with his incredible intelligence. The two meet at the National Police University as a professor and a student, respectively, and end up investigating a case together.

Cha Tae-hyun will take on the role of Professor Yoo Dong-man, a detective and cyber investigations team member who has 20 years of experience in handling violent crimes. Cha also portrayed a detective in his most recent drama Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation (2020), impressing viewers with his character digestion skills and inherent comedic personality.

Acting opposite Cha is singer-actor Jinyoung, who will play 19-year-old freshman Kang Sun-ho. After losing both his parents to a car accident when he was 10, Sun-ho has been left to take care of himself. Due to his hard life, he was forced to grow up and face the harsh realities of the world at an early age. Prior to entering the academy, Sun-ho hacked computers, a skill that will come in handy as he meets new friends in the campus, including Professor Yoo Dong-man. Jinyoung was previously lauded for his performance in Netflix’s two-season romance slash friendship series My First First Love (2019).

Completing the lineup is idol-turned-actress Krystal Jung, who has been made more popular by her roles in the dramas The Heirs (2013) and Search (2020). Jung will portray the character Oh Kang-hee, a freshman at the said institution who has dreamed of being a police officer since she was a child. She has no pretense and holds no secrets or grudges.

Police Class, formerly called Police Academy, is penned by screenwriter Min Jung and helmed by director Yoo Gwan-mo. It is slated to air as a Monday-Tuesday drama beginning this July.
