tvN’s ‘Vincenzo’ drops first stills of Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been, Ok Taec-yeon

tvN’s upcoming mafia-themed series Vincenzo has unveiled the first still cuts of Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been, and Ok Taec-yeon.

Vincenzo centers on Vincenzo Cassano, who was adopted when he was eight and has since been living in Italy. Now an adult, he works for the Cassano family as a strategist and a consigliere. When a conflict transpires within his organization and among other groups, he flees back to South Korea. Bearing the name Park Joo-hyung, he works to punish those who think they are above the law. In his unusual quest for justice, he meets Hong Cha-young, a vicious lawyer, and Jang Jun-woo, a hardworking first-year law firm intern.

The stills showcase the transformation of the actors into their unique characters. Vincenzo, who is known for his charisma and top-notch negotiation skills, is shown constantly dressed in sleek suits. In the images, he gives off a rather cold and calculating aura. Arthdal Chronicles’ Song Joong-ki, who essays the titular character, shared, “I felt happy when I first read the script. It felt very new and fresh in the way how evil was dealt with. [It’s not a] predictable story. Vincenzo is Korean on the outside, but he has Italian sentiments. He has lived like a stranger in the dark all his life, so he’s a lonely person who cannot open up his heart easily. It’s going to be an interesting point to see Vincenzo changing.”

Much like Vincenzo, Hong Cha-young is a good-looking and skilled lawyer, but she is one who cannot tolerate losing. While she is known as one of the best legal representatives in Korea’s top law firm, she is also infamous for her “devil’s tongue” and “witch-like persistence.” She is brought to life by Be Melodramatic’s Jeon Yeo-been. “Hong Cha-young is a bold character who has vigor, ingenuity, skill, persistence, and the courage to break through [cases] without hesitation. Vincenzo is a story about getting rid of bad guys who can no longer be dealt with in a nice way. Please look forward to the exciting [drama],” the actress said.

Ok Taec-yeon in Vincenzo

Portraying the slightly awkward and free-spirited Jang Jun-woo is The Game: Towards Zero actor Ok Taec-yeon. Despite his unassuming appearance and soft-spokenness, Jun-woo actually wants to become Cha-young’s James Bond and has a strong desire to win. However, with Vincenzo’s arrival, he seems to have found a rival for Cha-young’s heart and his cases. The actor commented, “The script is very interesting. The exchange of lines between the characters is alive, and [the lines] do not lose the humor despite the tension created by different [events] and situations in the story. I changed my hairstyle to maximize Jun-woo’s charm, which looks [a little] weird. I am trying my best to show you a new side of me.”

Vincenzo is set to premiere on February 20 at 9 p.m. as a Saturday-Sunday drama. Check out the drama’s first teaser here and main poster here.
