‘The Zombie Detective’ unveils Choi Jin-hyuk, Park Joo-hyun’s character posters

KBS2’s upcoming detective drama The Zombie Detective has released intense character posters featuring lead actors Choi Jin-hyuk and Park Joo-hyun.

The Zombie Detective is a drama that combines the genres of fantasy, comedy, and detective work in a refreshing new story. It follows a detective named Kim Moo-young, who is actually a two-year-old zombie with no memory of his past. He is naturally handsome and fit, and so in order to find out the truth about his past, he learns to blend in with humans. He corrects his awkward zombie walk, teaches himself to speak normally, and becomes a detective. Choi Jin-hyuk (Rugal) will essay the role of the titular zombie detective.

In his character poster, Choi Jin-hyuk sports makeup that is typical of zombies in films and TV—a white cast on his skin and massive dark circles around his eyes. He sits cross-legged on a dirty floor and has a branch in his mouth. His gaze is sharp and intent, as if he is focusing hard on something, and he also manages to give off a scary first impression.

Park Joo-hyun, who was last seen in the Netflix original series Extracurricular (2020), will play Kong Sun-ji, the writer of an investigative current affairs show. She is tireless in her pursuit of justice, but when a witness for one of the cases she is investigating is attacked, she resigns from her job in shock. She happens to cross paths with the zombie detective and begins working with him.

In her character poster, Park Joo-hyun looks terrified, like she fell to the ground after seeing something terribly shocking. Her hair and clothes are disheveled and a huge pipe can be seen behind her, as if she’s underground or near a construction site. The two posters seem connected—Choi Jin-hyuk looks terrifying, while Park Joo-hyun is frozen in shock.

The Zombie Detective is a 12-episode series and will air on KBS2 every Monday and Tuesday starting August 31. It is directed by Shim Jae-hyun, who served as an assistant director on the 2015 drama The Producers, while screenwriter Baek Eun-jin has penned the script.
