‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ releases 2 posters featuring Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, more

SBS’s upcoming drama The King: Eternal Monarch starring Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun has dropped its first posters.

The series combines romance and fantasy and is set in two parallel worlds: one where Korea is a modern monarchy ruled by Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho) and the other in which it is a democracy where detective Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) lives. The two people cross paths with each other when a mysterious door opens and connects the two worlds. They team up to face the danger brought about by the door.

The first poster features the main cast of The King: Eternal Monarch (from left to right): Lee Jung-jin (The Liar and His Lover) as Lee Gon’s uncle, Jung Eun-chae (The Guest) as the Prime Minister of the Korean Empire, Lee Min-ho (Legend of the Blue Sea) as Emperor Lee Gon, Kim Go-eun (Goblin) as detective Jung Tae-eul in the Republic of Korea, Woo Do-hwan (My Country: The New Age) as the captain of the emperor’s guard, and Kim Kyung-nam (Special labor Inspector) as Jung Tae-eul’s work partner.

The second poster of the drama features Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun surrounded by a city landscape that looks modern and fantastical. The two stand facing each other, with Lee sitting on a white horse and Kim standing in front of him. They are in the middle of Seoul’s iconic tourist spot Gwanghwamun Square. The surface in the foreground reflects the encounter of two characters, signifying the theme of the parallel worlds.
