KBS2’s upcoming office romantic-comedy The Ballot has dropped a hilarious teaser and the leads’ first stills!
Starring Nana (Justice) and Park Sung-hoon (Psychopath Diary) in the lead roles, The Ballot tells the story of two people in a town’s District People’s Council teaming up to nab corrupt politicians. As they set out on their mission, sparks fly between the two.
Nana plays Goo Se-ra, nicknamed the “Queen of Civil Complaints” for constantly filing complaints. She has little money and education and supports herself through part-time jobs, but she still manages to be confident and maintain a sunny outlook in life. She discovers a job opening at the District People’s Council that will solve most her problems.
The 30-second teaser opens with Nana in a formal suit standing in front of a wall, with posters emblazoned with the words “Why not.” She gets a text informing her that she has failed a job interview, and in the next clip, she proceeds to yell in celebration before throwing her phone away and cursing loudly. The wall with the “Why not” posters has another poster—this one announcing a job opening for the District Council. The text on the screen flashes “Crazy job-seeker who chose to run instead of getting a job,” and Nana breaks into the creepiest, most Joker-esque grin, with her hair wild.
KBS2 also dropped the very first stills of Nana in the show. She is seen shouting something into the mic in an outdoor area—most likely campaigning for something political. In another still, she’s seen posing for selfies with schoolgirls, much the same way a politician hoping to garner votes does. Nana’s transformation for her first comedy role is incredible.
Stills for the show’s male lead Park Sung-hoon were also released. Park plays Seo Gong-myung, a competent but inflexible civil servant. He’s quite handsome, but because of his unfriendly personality, he’s nicknamed “Great Lucifer.” Gong-myung is a principled guy who prefers to follow the rules exactly as they are. He meets Goo Se-ra after getting demoted to the District Council.
In his stills, Park Sung-hoon is seen leaning against a wall in the library. He is dressed in office wear, with his hair in a funny style and nose deep in a book. He’s seen making the “shush” gesture, possibly alluding to his rule-loving nature.
The Ballot is directed by Hwang Seung-gi (Radio Romance) and is set to premiere on July 1, as the follow-up to Jung So-min’s Soul Mechanic.
