Taxi Driver‘s (2021) very own scene-stealer Cha Ji-yeon is being courted to star in a new drama from Netflix!
On May 31, news reports shared that the actress will join the new Netflix original drama called Bride of Black with a lead role. In response, Cha Ji-yeon’s agency C-JeS Entertainment clarified that the actress has indeed received a proposal from the said drama but is still considering it.
Bride of Black will follow a remarriage information company that caters to the upper-class society. The business is utilized as a means for some people to achieve their goals of advancing into high society or maintaining their social status through marriage.
Mine (2021) star Lee Hyun-wook has confirmed to play the lead male role in the drama, while award-winning actress and Alice (2020) star Kim Hee-sun is still reviewing the drama’s proposal to play the lead female role.
If she accepts the project, Cha will take on the role of Choi Yoo-seon, the head of Korea’s top-class marriage information company. She was born poor but has become successful after entering the marriage market and believes the only condition of happiness is money.
After making her acting debut in the drama Scent of a Woman in 2011, Cha Ji-yeon did not star in any TV projects until Taxi Driver ten years later, where her dramatic performance left a deep impression and was lauded by many viewers.
Bride of Black is scheduled to finish casting soon and will reportedly begin filming. The drama is penned by I Am the Mother Too (2018) screenwriter Lee Geun-young and is set for an exclusive release on Netflix in 2022.
