We have already seen some thriller Korean dramas where an amnesiac main lead would forget about the murderer, or simply the antagonist, and the story revolves from there. But have we already encountered a drama where the murderer is the one who suffers from memory loss? Catch that kind of twist in SBS’s upcoming thriller-romcom Suspicious Partner and be in a whirlwind of action and edge-of-the-seat moments!
The drama series, which was previously called as ‘Beware This Woman’, conducted its script reading on April 4 at the SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyeon-dong, South Korea. It is directed by Park Sun-ho who previously worked as the assistant director of Legend of the Blue Sea, and penned by Kwon Ki-young who wrote the 2015 drama Hello Monster.
“I will cherish this relationship that we have going forth and do my best to do the filming enjoyably on set,” said PD Park during the script reading event, “I will also try my best to capture a lot of pretty frames until early summer so that there is no shame in my work.” Writer Kwon, meanwhile, said that he is honored to work with the cast and crew and will do his best as the screenwriter of the series.
The drama tells the story of two individuals whose lives are in danger because of an amnesiac murderer who wants to kill them. Ji Chang-wook (The K2) plays the role of No Ji-wook, a jack-of-all-trades who tries to fulfill his father’s kind of life to live which is being a prosecutor. His love interest is played by Nam Ji-hyun, who now leaves the innocent and sweet persona she had in her last drama Shopaholic King Louis and plays the role of Eun Bong-hee, a a junior Taekwondo athlete and a judicial trainee. The main two leads have previously worked together in the 2011 SBS drama series Warrior Baek Dong Soo.
The second leads are also present at the script read. These are Choi Tae-joon (Missing 9) and Korean pop idol Nara of Hello Venus. Suspicious Partner is her debut as an actress on the small screen. Choi Tae-joon plays the role a of a lawyer with a terrible past and a complicated family while Nara plays as a prosecutor and the ex-girlfriend of Ji Chang-wook’s character.
Suspicious Partner will air Wednesdays and Thursdays, following Saimdang, Light’s Diary starting May 10, 2017.
