Song Seung-heon will star in the upcoming romance drama Shall We Eat Dinner Together?, MBC confirmed on February 6.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Shall We Eat Dinner Together will tell the story of a man and woman trying to heal the wounds they have suffered from in their failed relationships through food. The two meet accidentally while waiting in line at a restaurant and getting mistaken for a couple. They end up having dinner together and connect because of their love for food, which leads them to have weekly dinners together. The drama is expected to feature heavy doses of healing romance and delicious food.
Song Seung-heon will be playing the role of a psychiatrist and food psychologist who examines and heals his patients with food. His character is a man with vast patience and dedication to his profession. He loves food but doesn’t hesitate to criticize it when something is wrong. The actor was most recently seen in the 2019 tvN drama The Great Show.
Meanwhile, Seo Ji-hye, who is currently making waves with her major character in Crash Landing On You, has been offered the female lead role opposite Song Seung-heon. If she accepts, she would be playing a YouTube channel’s planning team member who becomes unable to feel love after dating twice and having her heart broken in terrible ways.
Girl group Apink’s Son Na-eun has also been approached to star in the drama and is said to be reviewing the script positively. If she takes the role, it will be her first drama appearance in almost three years. She was last seen in the 2017 melodrama The Most Beautiful Goodbye.
Shall We Eat Dinner Together will be directed by PD Ko Jae-hyun, who worked with Song Seung-heon in the 2018 drama The Player. It will follow Nam Ji-hyun’s 365: One Year Against Destiny in May.
