Song Seung-heon, Go Ara considering lead roles in OCN’s “Black”

Song Seung-heon (Saimdang, Light’s Diary) and Go Ara (Hwarang) were both offered lead roles for OCN’s upcoming crime thriller drama, Black. On June 8, OSEN revealed that the two actors are currently reviewing the offer as confirmed by their respective agencies. The drama will be under the direction of Pied Piper and Voice’s P.D., Kim Hong-sun and written by Iljimae and God’s Gift – 14 Days’ screenwriter, Choi Ran.

Black is about a grim reaper who borrows the body of a man and illegally falls in love with a mortal woman. He then faces the consequence of his forbidden love by being totally erased from the world’s records and memory. Song Seung-heon will possibly play Han Moo-kang, the lead character who got possessed by a grim reaper with aliases “Grim Reaper of Criminals” and “Man in Black”. As implied by these labels, he is characterized as a hard-hearted grim reaper who does not shudder or even flinch at brutal and horrendous crime bringing about mangled-up gory corpses. He develops this dark personality after he discovers a secret which completely changed his once bright and cheerful disposition.

Meanwhile, details on Go Ara’s character have not yet been elaborated but if she accepts, she is assumed to portray the mortal woman whom the heartless Han Moo-kang falls in love with. She is no ordinary woman since she is able to see the shadows of death. This brief description of her character possibly tells how she and Moo-Kang will meet.

Black is a part of OCN’s solid 2017 thriller line up which is scheduled to air sometime in October every Saturday and Sunday at 22:00 Korean Standard Time (KST). At the said timeslot, OCN currently airs Duel starring Jung Jae-young, which will be followed by Save Me featuring Taecyeon and Seo Ye-ji. Black is set to broadcast after the two dramas and will then be proceeded by Bad Guys Season 2.
