Song Kang, Park In-hwan dance toward their dreams in official Netflix trailer for ‘Navillera’

Netflix has shown a glimpse of Song Kang and Park In-hwan’s portrayal of two struggling dreamers in the world of ballet through the streaming platform’s official trailer for Navillera.

Adapted from a webtoon of the same name, Navillera centers on two ballet dancers who form a life-changing friendship as they journey towards their ambitions together. It stars Park In-hwan (Brilliant Heritage) as the 70-year-old retired mailman Shim Deok-chul and Song Kang (Sweet Home) as the 23-year-old ballet dancer Lee Chae-rok.

The promo video opens with Shim Deok-chul saying, “I have never done what I wanted,” as the scene shows him throwing out the things that remind him of his dream to become a ballet dancer. However, peeking through the glass window of an empty ballet studio seemingly makes him contemplate on how his past sacrifices have sealed away his passion for ballet. Hinting that he will finally make a big decision that will help him find his own happiness, the text “A new challenge at 70” appears on the screen.

On the other hand, Lee Chae-rok’s frustrated voice takes over the background and cries, “I am not doing well due to your words, or curse. I don’t know what to do, or if there will be a future for me.” Then, the caption “Started wandering at 23” appear to describe that Chae-rok is currently at an uncertain and tormenting phase in his life.

After they meet, however, the two will take another shot at reaching their dreams. As the last caption says, “Encounter a lost dream,” the two begin dancing once again. Deok-shul advises, “Chae-rok, we only live once. That’s why every moment counts for me.” Wondering about what motivated him to pursue a challenging career despite his age, Chae-rok asks, “Why do you want to do ballet?”

Navillera is an upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama that will premiere on tvN this March 22 at 9 p.m. KST. It is slated for worldwide screening via Netflix within just a few hours after its local broadcast.
