Song Kang, Han So-hee in talks for lead roles in new webtoon-based drama ‘I Know But’

An upcoming series is currently in the works at JTBC, titled I Know But (literal), and it has reportedly sent out lead-role offers to rising stars Song Kang and Han So-hee!

On the 25th, Song Kang’s agency Namoo Actors revealed to Newsen, “It [I Know But] is one of the several works that Song Kang has been proposed with. He is currently going over it.” In a similar statement, Han’s agency 9Ato shared, “Han So-hee has been tapped to star [in the drama] and is considering it. Nothing has been decided yet.”

Based on a webcomic of the same name by manhwa (Korean term for comics) artist Jung Seo, I Know But will follow the superficial romantic life of a woman who wants to date despite not believing in love. Centered on two young characters named Yu Na-bi and Park Jae-eon, the source material was serialized on Naver from November 2018 to July 2019, with a total of 40 episodes. It got a high rating of 9.9 and pulled in over 99 thousand online readers.

Han So-hee is best known for her impeccable portrayal of a confident and elegant mistress in the record-breaking drama The World of the Married (2020). Years before that breakthrough role, she made appearances in various dramas, including Into the World Again (2017), Money Flower (2017–2018), 100 Days My Prince (2018), and Abyss (2019). Han is currently being watched out for for her first-ever lead role in Netflix’s upcoming thriller drama Undercover (2021), where she will star alongside actors Park Hee-soon and Ahn Bo-hyun.

Meanwhile, Song Kang made his small-screen debut as part of the supporting cast of the drama The Liar and His Lover (2017). He then went on to further his acting experience by breathing life into notable roles in series such as Man Who Sets the Table (2017–2018) and When the Devil Calls Your Name (2019). Later in 2019, he played his first lead role, which soon became his breakout role, in Netflix’s romantic-fantasy series Love Alarm. The project was such a huge success that it got renewed for a second season, slated for release on 2021. Recently, Kang has been gearing up for his lead role in the upcoming title Sweet Home, another series that will be adapted from a webtoon.

I Know But will be helmed by Kim Ga-ram, director of Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency (2019) and will be penned by Jung Won, screenwriter for the web series Dating Class (2019). It targets to already kick off its production by the first half of 2021.
