Song Kang, Han So-hee are intimate in ‘Nevertheless’ previews; drama in talks to get partial 19+ rating

JTBC has dropped new promos for Nevertheless, showing lead stars Song Kang and Han So-hee‘s intense romantic connection that might soon grant the upcoming series a partial R19+ status.

Based on the webtoon “I Know But” by manhwa (Korean term for comics) author Jung Seo, Nevertheless is a realistic depiction of the modern-day romance between a woman who craves for love despite having lost faith in it and a man who likes dating but easily gets overwhelmed by the commitments that come with it.

Rising stars Song Kang (Navillera) and Han So-hee (The World of the Married) take the forefront as university students Park Jae-eon and Yoo Na-bi, respectively.

In the drama’s second main poster, Park Jae-eon’s and Yoo Na-bi’s not-so-innocent faces take up the whole frame, but it is their implied closeness to each other that catches the eyes and intrigues the mind. Na-bi appears to be on the act of kissing the butterfly tattoo on Jae-eon’s nape, her head slightly tilted and her gaze intoxicated with the passion stirring up inside her.

On the other hand, Jae-eon seems to be mustering up every ounce of self-control left in his system. Just as the caption in front of him says, “I know but nevertheless,” it looks like it will not be too long until his reasoning completely yields to his feelings.

Meanwhile, the video teaser provides a glimpse into the ambiguous relationship between the two protagonists. As his attraction to the lady-charmer Park Jae-eon slowly becomes stronger, Yoo Na-bi questions herself, “Does he really like me?” before instantly concluding, “No! I won’t see him,” as a weak attempt to shield her heart.

The moving graphics that follow hint at a secret between the two as Na-bi thinks out loud, “What if we didn’t do it that night?” Jae-eon continues to confuse her by approaching her earnestly then backing down as soon as she tries to take a step toward his direction. In the end, Na-bi chooses to take the risk, saying, “I know I shouldn’t like you, nevertheless…”

On June 3, a source from the drama stated, “We are discussing to air some episodes with a 19+ rating.” The deliberation transpired after the drama’s production team revealed that Nevertheless follows two overly sweet and extremely attractive 22-year-olds. Once finalized, viewers aged 18 and below will be advised against watching determined episodes.

Nevertheless is set to air every Saturday beginning June 19 at 11 p.m. KST. The 10-part series will also be available for streaming on Netflix.
