Song Ji-hyo’s ‘Was It Love?’ drops first stills with positive, cheerful vibe

JTBC’s newest romantic-comedy drama Was It Love? has dropped its first stills featuring a positive, cheerful Song Ji-hyo.

The four-against-one romance series follows the story of movie producer and single mother Noh Ae-jung, played by Song Ji-hyo, who inevitably finds herself entangled in a whirlwind romance with four guys: the famous actor Ryu Jin, played by Song Jong-ho (Arthdal Chronicles); the school teacher Oh Yeon-woo, played by Koo Ja-sung (The Secret Life of My Secretary); the gangster-turned-CEO Goo Pa-do, played by Kim Min-joon (Babysitter); and the best-selling writer Oh Dae-oh, played by Son Ho-jun (The Light in Your Eyes). After 14 years of being alone, Noh Ae-jung once again enters the second chapter of her love life while balancing her life as a mother and as a career woman.

The released stills show Ae-jung’s journey of hard work to set foot in the film industry, from working as a part-timer at a movie theater to going to job interviews in movie companies. In all the shots, she can be seen with a bright smile and positive eyes, reflecting her optimism and determination. She eventually gets the opportunity to become a movie producer, giving presentations and attending meetings with investors.

The production team gave the actress their praise and approval, saying, “Song Ji-hyo, who is full of positivity in the shooting scene, [embodies] the bright and cheerful Ae-jung, and [we] can’t think of any other actor than her.”

They further added that they are confident that the actress’ positive charm will inevitably attract the viewers, including her four leading men. “Let’s watch the [love story] and the irresistible vibe that Song Ji-hyo will show off in Was It Love?,” they shared.

Song Ji-hyo made her official small-screen debut in the 2006 rom-com series Princess Hours, where she played a ballet dancer. She is also best known for her leading role in the 2014 medical rom-com series Emergency Couple, where she starred opposite Choi Jin-hyuk. She last starred in the 2018 horror rom-com Lovely Horribly with Park Si-hoo. Since 2010, she has also been a regular cast member of the South Korean variety show Running Man, which is gaining international fame.

Was It Love? (also known as Did We Love?) will premiere on July 8, replacing Mystic Pop-up Bar in its 9:30 p.m. KST time slot every Wednesday and Thursday.

Luna

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
