Sneak peek at ‘A Love So Beautiful’s’ fun-filled first script reading

Kakao M has released the photos of the fun-filled first script reading event of A Love So Beautiful‘s Korean remake!

The upcoming romance drama is an adaptation of the popular 2017 Chinese teen drama of the same name that became a local and international hit, giving its lead stars Shen Yue and Hu Yitian a popularity boost. The story follows the unrequited love of a cheerful, optimistic high school student for her next-door neighbor. The Korean remake stars So Joo-yeon, WEi’s Kim Yo-han, who will be making his acting debut in the series, and Yeo Hoe-hyun.

A Love So Beautiful‘s first script-reading session was attended by the main cast Kim Yo-han, So Joo-yeon, Yeo Hoe-hyun, as well as the supporting cast members. The actors can be seen smiling, as if enjoying reading the script and getting into character, making the atmosphere lively and light. Kim and So perfectly portrayed the two main characters, who are childhood friends, and filled the reading session with their warm chemistry without the awkwardness, even on their first day of reading the script.

Kim Yo-han is set to play Cha Heon, an aloof and indifferent campus celebrity who is good looking and excels in everything he does, especially in academics. Kim was admired by his co-stars as he got into character and showcased his stable acting ability, despite this being his first-ever acting project. His character Cha Heon is described as a snob with a cold exterior and an emotionless expression and tone of voice who is hiding a warm personality and is just awkward at expressing himself. How Kim will be able to perfectly portray his character but still put his own charm is one of the highly anticipated parts of the series.

Meanwhile, So Joo-yeon will play the role of Shin Sol-yi, a bright and bubbly 17-year-old who is in love with her extremely smart but snobbish neighbor Cha Heon. The actress is expected to add a unique energy to her character with her iconic lines “I like you!” and “I love going to school with you, so I love it so much,” which strongly express the love of a high school girl who is not afraid to show her feelings. So made her acting debut in 2018 and has since starred in dramas such as Not Alright, but It’s Alright (2018), My Healing Love (2018), and I Hate Going to Work (2019), where she first worked with actor Yeo Hoe-hyun. She last appeared in the second season of the hit medical drama Dr. Romantic, which aired last January. The actress has also been cast in the romance drama Lovestruck in the City, a KakaoTV drama set to premiere on December 22.

Joining them is Yeo Hoe-hyun, who will play the talented swimmer Woo Dae-sung, a transfer student who will form a love triangle between the two childhood friends. He is also raising expectations on how he will show natural chemistry with the two actors as he portrays his character. Yeo has been in the industry for six years, appearing in many series over the years such as Pinocchio (2014–2015), The Roots of Throne (2015–2016), While You Were Sleeping (2017), and Leverage (2019), his last starring project.

Also in the cast is Jo Hye-joo, who was last seen in the fantasy-action thriller Memorist (2020). She will play the role of Sol-yi’s best friend Kang Ha-young. She is hot-tempered and is ready to defend her friends anytime. She has a crush on one of the school staff, played by Lee Joo-hwan. Meanwhile, Jung Jin-hwan will play a role of the same name, a cheerful student who dreams to be a singer and has a crush on Ha-young. He last appeared in the romantic-comedy Ga Doo Ri’s Sushi Restaurant (2020).

The romance between a high school girl and her childhood friend is expected to captivate the viewers and, with the characters’ chemistry, give justice to the series that was able to build a strong fan base and is considered as one of the biggest representative dramas of China.

The much-awaited A Love So Beautiful remake, which received immense hype and excitement from the fans after the news of the remake and casting was announced, will have a total of 24 episodes, with each running for about 20 minutes. It will be released on KakaoTV and air every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday starting on December 28th at 5 p.m. KST.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
