Shin Ha-kyun, Choi Sung-eun in talks along with Yeo Jin-goo to headline new drama ‘Monster’

Renowned actor Shin Ha-kyun and rookie actress Choi Sung-eun have been offered roles in JTBC’s upcoming series Monster (working title).

Shin’s agency, HODU&U Entertainment, shared on May 19 that the actor is indeed positively reviewing the said proposal for a starring role. Likewise, the drama’s network has revealed in a report on July 23 that an offer has been given to the new actress. To date, Choi has reportedly no agency as her contract with SALT Entertainment recently expired.

Details on the drama’s story line and Shin’s and Choi’s potential characters are still being kept under wraps.

Though relatively more active in the film industry, with over 30 movies tied up to his name, Shin Ha-kyun has also displayed his acting prowess in a number of television dramas such as Brain (2011–2012), All About My Romance (2013), and Mr. Baek (2014). His most recent role was in KBS2’s medical-themed, romantic-comedy series Soul Mechanic (2020), where he performed opposite actress Jung So-min.

Meanwhile, Choi Sung-eun first impressed with her performance in the 2019 webtoon-based movie Start-Up. She is slowly building up her acting repertoire and has been cast in one of MBC’s SF8 episodes, SF8: Astronaut Joan (2020).

Hotel del Luna actor Yeo Jin-goo was also previously reported to have received an offer for a comeback lead role in Monster. This possible team-up of Shin and Yeo, with the participation of Choi, is already putting viewers in full anticipation of the project.

Monster will be helmed by director Shim Na-yeon of At Eighteen (2019) and penned by screenwriter Kim Soo-jin of The Light in Your Eyes (2019).
