Shin Dong-yup, Bae Suzy, Park Bo-gum, to co-host Baeksang Arts Awards for third consecutive year

Television host Shin Dong-yup and actors Bae Suzy and Park Bo-gum are confirmed to return at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards as the event’s official emcees for three years in a row.

Considered as South Korea’s own version of the Oscars, the most prestigious annual awards gathering in the country will be held to honor the cast and crew of films, TV programs, and theater productions that were released between April 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020.

The trio have shown great synergy and impeccable hosting skills at the show for the last two years. This will mark Shin’s sixth time on the event, having hosted from 2014 through 2020, with the exception of 2017. His refreshing wit and humor have become a major element in each of the ceremonies that he has taken part of.

Meanwhile, Bae Suzy has been gracefully wearing the title “Baeksang Goddess” for five consecutive years since 2016. As a representative for the young crowd, Bae Suzy has been displaying remarkable finesse in hosting on top of being a well-recognized singer and actress. She has led the show with calm and composure, transitioning casually from delivering her spiels to conversing with her co-hosts.

Completing the team is Park Bo-gum who has had the opportunity of taking the position since 2018. The actor is known for being all out in his projects since his debut in 2011. As a host last year, he received praise for smoothly carrying out his pitches without looking at the cue card.

After being postponed from its initial May 1 schedule, the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards will push through on June 5. It will be held without an audience at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, due to COVID-19 concerns. The live broadcast will span for three hours starting 5 p.m. KST on JTBC.
