Actor Shim Wan-joon is the newest cast member of JTBC’s new drama Monster.
On August 20, the actor’s agency confirmed his appearance and said, “Shim Wan-joon was cast in the series Monster.”
The upcoming psychological thriller from JTBC will center on two detectives and their mission to hunt down a serial killer who has seemingly come back after a long hiatus. As they work on the case, the two inevitably realize that in order to catch the killer, they must consistently question everything and doubt everyone involved in the case, including themselves. It stars Shin Ha-kyun (Soul Mechanic) and Yeo Jin-goo (Hotel del Luna).
Shim has signed up for the role of Gang Do-soo, a homicide detective at the Munju (previously reported as Manyang) Police Station that belongs to the western government of the Gyeonggi Province. It is the same station where Lee Dong-shik, played by Shin Ha-kyun, is also currently assigned. Eventually, Han Joo-won, played by Yeo Jin-goo, will take the reins of the station as its newly transferred superior.
Shim Wan-joon has been active in many films and dramas where he has been honing his acting skills. It seems that Monster will be adding to his spectrum of acting roles. He has appeared in many popular series in the past, such as Tomorrow with You (2017), While You Were Sleeping (2017), My Country: The New Age (2019), and the most recent, Hi Bye, Mama! (2020).
