As School 2017 gears up for its premiere in July, another casting confirmation was reported for the drama. SF9 member Kim Ro-woon who is known for his role in the web drama Click Your Heart will be appearing in the upcoming series.
A representative from the FNC Entertainment, the entertainment company that handles SF9, confirmed on June 5 that Kim Ro-woon (better known as Ro-woon) will become part of the upcoming drama, although the details about the role he will play remain under wraps.
The first acting stint of Ro Woon was in the web drama Click Your Heart together with the other members of SF9. His role in School 2017 will mark his acting debut on television dramas.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the South Korean actress and Gugudan girl group member Kim Se-jeong (The Sound of Your Heart) will play the female lead of School 2017. Kim Yoo-jung (Moonlight Drawn By Clouds) was previously offered the lead female role but her agency, Sidus HQ, confirmed recently that she turned down the offer. The company did not disclose the reason behind the decision of the actress.
Actors Kim Jung-hyun (Rebel Thief Who Stole the People) and Han Joo-wan (Gunman In Joseon) are still considering if they will take the roles offered to them. Kim Jung-hyun is said to have been offered the male lead role. The agencies of the two actors have not given statements yet regarding their decisions.
School 2017 is the seventh installment of the School franchise that began in 1999. The plot of the latest series remains unknown but it is expected to center on the stories of teens’ struggles. KBS announced in March that it will be producing the latest installment, which follows Who Are You: School 2015.
School 2017 will be directed by Park Jin-seok (Naked Fireman) and will be written by Im Soo-mi (Let’s Eat). The new KBS 2 drama will air this July after Fight For My Way.
