Upcoming series You Are My Spring has set its eyes on singer-turned-actress Seo Hyun-jin for the female lead role.
A source from the star’s agency Management SOOP revealed to news outlets on the 14th, “Seo Hyun-jin received an offer to appear in the new drama You Are My Spring and is positively reviewing it.”
You Are My Spring will follow three protagonists who, despite having already grown into adults, still live with the memories and dreams of their seven-year-old selves. The work is described as a healing, romantic tale about people who have remained kids at heart.
Seo Hyun-jin is being tapped to play Kang Da-jung, a hotel concierge manager who has taken after her father’s intelligence and her mother’s resilience. She never went to a private academy and depended on scholarships to get her through university. Nonetheless, Da-jung’s excellent academic performance and great qualities got her a job at a five-star hotel. Not long after, she rose through the ranks and became a manager faster than her peers. She is highly capable at her job that she is being scouted by other departments. The only major problem that she has is that she seems to have also taken after her mother’s poor choice in men, based on the fact that everyone she dates turn out to be as terrible as her father.
Having gained initial fame for her debut role in the popular sageuk (historical drama) Hwang Jin-yi (2006), Seo Hyun-jin became a household name for her portrayals of the female protagonist in various television dramas, such as Another Miss Oh (2016), Dr. Romantic (2016–2017), Temperature of Love (2017), and The Beauty Inside (2018). If she accepts the current proposal, she is on to play her next role since headlining the drama Black Dog (2019–2020). Currently, Seo and actor Park Seo-joon (Itaewon Class) are on the radar for their confirmed guest appearances in the ongoing tvN drama Record of Youth.
You Are My Spring will be helmed by Jung Ji-hyun, co-director of The King: Eternal Monarch (2020), and is penned by screenwriter Lee Mi-na of Bubblegum (2015). Although the broadcasting network has not been decided yet, the production team aims to air the drama in the first half of 2021.
