“School 2017” conducts first script reading

With a little over one month in preparation before it starts airing, the cast of the upcoming KBS drama School 2017 conducted their first script reading on June 19, 2017, at the KBS Annex Building in Yeuido, Seoul, South Korea. The event was attended by lead actors Kim Se-jeong, Kim Jung-hyun (Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People), and Jang Dong-yoon (Solomon’s Perjury).

School 2017 is the 7th installment of KBS’s long-running School franchise that began in 1999. The exact synopsis of the upcoming coming-of-age drama is still unknown but it is expected to center on high school teens’ lives and struggles. Kim Se-jeong of girl group Gugudan will portray the character of Ra Eun-ho, a cheerful student with intellect and a talent for drawing webtoons who dreams of dating her college guy crush. This drama marks Kim Se-jeong’s first leading role in a television series.

Rounding out the main cast are other rookie actors Kim Jung-hyun and Jang Dong-yoon. Kim Jung-hyun’s role is a rude, prideful student who transfers from the United States and causes trouble in the school. He does not get reprimanded enough though because of his rich father who is an investor in the school’s foundation. Jang Dong-yoon, on the other hand, will play a character well beloved by his classmates and serving as the student body president. He has the looks, the grades, and almost everything else but parents who care about him.

Also present during the script read are Ro-woon , Han Joo-wan, and Han Sun-hwa. The other rookie members of the cast include Park Se-wan (Radiant Office), Ha Seung-ri (Chief Kim), Seo Ji-hoon (Solomon’s Perjury), and Kim Hee-chan (Radiant Office).

School 2017 will air every Mondays and Tuesdays. If KBS decides to air it one week after the finale of Fight For My Way, the drama will most likely premiere on July 31, 2017.

Me? Just an ordinary lad with an extraordinary (says this something called 'stereotype') habit of watching Korean dramas. It started with action-filled City Hunter and the rest, as they say, is history.
