SBS’s upcoming justice-themed series Fly Dragon has unveiled the individual teasers of lead stars Kwon Sang-woo and Bae Sung-woo as they transform into their fiery yet comical characters.
Fly Dragon follows the story of public defender Park Tae-yong (Kwon Sang-woo, Queen of Mystery 2), and reporter Park Sam-soo (Bae Sung-woo, Live), who have teamed up in challenging Korea’s current judicial system, breaking unjust norms and representing falsely accused offenders as they go.
In his freshly released character teaser, Park Tae-yong opened the video with an honest plea, “I will do everything that I can, so please put your trust on me.” The scene then shifts inside the courtroom where the judge has given his verdict in favor of the defendant. That case could have served as Park’s epiphany, judging by the words he said afterward, “The train has turned into a dragon and ascended towards the sky. I have come this far by believing in that seemingly impossible notion.” However, if there is one thing that could get in his way, it would be his bad temper. After slamming the papers on the table, he stands up and warns someone, “You are all dead to me!” The teaser then ends showing a stressed and pressured lawyer Park, whose overflowing confidence goes flying out the window when his colleague asks about their next step, “What should we do?” He responded while burying his anxious face in his hands, “I don’t know either.”
On the other hand, Park Sam-soo’s teaser reveals a smiling and funny reporter who is prepared to do whatever it takes for him to survive in his harsh profession. Though he studied history at an average university, his incredible writing skills allowed him to enter the world of journalism. As a piece of advice, he tells his junior reporter, “Look out for the things that can’t be seen and listen to the things that make no sound. Those are what really matters.” The video approaches its end with another one of Park Sam-soo’s career hacks, as he says, “In a world where money is perceived as justice, let us make money through justice.” The final scene then flashes a brief meeting between Park Tae-yong and Park Sam-soo, amping up the viewers’ anticipation for the onscreen partnership that Kwon Sang-woo and Bae Sung-woo will soon be serving on prime-time television.
Fly Dragon, previously known as Fly from Rags to Riches, is helmed by Kwak Jung-hwan, director of the two-season series Chief of Staff (2019), and penned by screenwriter Park Sang-kyu. It is scheduled to premiere on October 30 at 10 p.m. KST and air every Friday and Saturday, replacing Alice.
