Two of South Korea’s most in-demand actors of today, Ryu Seung-ryong and Park Hae-joon, have reportedly been cast in the upcoming film Junggane Ranch (literal title).
According to news released by multiple media outlets on the 1st, Ryu and Park have recently signed up to lead the new movie Junggane Ranch and have already kicked off the preparations.
Junggane Ranch will tell the story of two brothers who grew up raising cattle on a farm. As of writing, specific details about the plotline as well as the characters are still being kept under wraps.
After his debut in the 2004 movie Someone Special, Ryu Seung-ryong went on to become an esteemed versatile actor in the entertainment industry. Whether it is an extremely likable protagonist or a highly despicable villain, Ryu is acclaimed for being able to pull off whatever character he portrays. Some of the most memorable roles he has played are a father with a mental illness in Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2013), an extraordinarily gifted musician in The Piper (2015), and a telekinetic security officer in Psychokinesis (2018). His latest commercial film, Extreme Job (2019; 114M USD), was such a huge box-office hit that it ranked second among the highest-grossing Korean movies of all time (data as of April 2020), topped by the Oscar-winning black comedy film Parasite (2019; 266M USD).
Meanwhile, Park Hae-joon has been praised for breathing life into notable supporting roles in movies, such as Fourth Place (2016), Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage (2019), Tune in for Love (2019), and Bring Me Home (2019). In 2020, Park not only solidified his domestic reputation as an actor but also leaped towards international stardom for his performance in The World of the Married (2020), the highest-rated cable drama in the history of Korean television. Following the success of that series, Park has been offered to appear as a major cast member in two upcoming movies, The 8th Day’s Night and Emergency Declaration.
Having both played parts in history-breaking projects in the past, Ryu Seung-ryong and Park Hae-joon are on the radar for an epic onscreen team-up that could potentially create yet another masterpiece.
Junggane Ranch aims to shoot in early 2021 after finishing details on its main casting and carrying out pre-production preparations.
