‘Run On’ cast members Im Si-wan, Shin Se-kyung, more quarantined after confirmation of COVID-19 case on set

JTBC’s upcoming sports-themed romantic drama Run On becomes the newest program to take a hit from the current COVID-19 pandemic after one of its production staff tested positive for the virus.

On the 27th, the cable network revealed, “One of Run On’s production crew was confirmed positive for COVID-19 earlier today, which pushed the series to immediately stop its filming. All staff members and actors such as Im Si-wan, Shin Se-kyung, and Lee Bong-ryun, who stayed in the same area as the diagnosed person, were subjected to tests and are undergoing self-isolation.”

In compliance with South Korea’s protocol for its existing COVID-19 situation, the drama’s shooting schedule has been halted until otherwise advised. Everyone who has come in close contact with the confirmed positive case must continue to place themselves on a 14-day quarantine period even if their test results come out as negative.

Run On tells the story of a former track and field athlete who was forced to quit and follow a different path due to an unfortunate incident in the past. Im Si-wan (Strangers from Hell) is set to play the character Ki Sun-gyeom, a once popular sprinter for the national team who ended up staying at the sidelines as a sports agent. Acting opposite Im is Shin Se-kyung (Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung) who will portray the character Oh Mi-joo, a writer of subtitle translations for movies. After crossing paths with Sun-gyeom, Mi-joo gets the feeling that they were fated to meet.

The series was initially slated to broadcast in the second half of 2020, but the present setback introduces the possibility of some adjustments to Run On’s original production schedule.
