A new tvN drama is coming to K-dramaland!
Rookie actor Yoon Jung-ro and actress Chae Seo-eun are confirmed additions to the cast of Queen Cheorin (literal title), an upcoming fusion historical-comedy drama.
The series will tell the story of a modern-day chef working at the Blue House who mysteriously finds his soul trapped in the body of Queen Kim So-yong (Shin Hye-sun) in the Joseon era. While in the body of the queen, he meets gentle and easygoing King Cheoljong (Kim Jung-hyun), who has a dark side and hidden secrets, the controlling and manipulative Queen Sunwon (Bae Jong-ok), and her overly ambitious younger brother Kim Jwa-geun (Kim Tae-woo).
Yoon Jung-ro will be joining his seniors from the agency, Yoon Ki-won (Selection: The War Between Women) and Lee Tae-gum (Nokdu Flower), who were previously confirmed for the drama as well. T&I Cultures, their agency, announced, “Yoon Jung-ro is cast as a member of the palace in tvN’s Queen Cheorin, and [he will meet] viewers again with another historical drama after Haechi.”
Yoon, who is slowly getting recognition in the independent film industry, graduated and honed his skills from the Korea National University of Arts. He previously appeared as a rookie inspector in SBS’s historical drama Haechi last year.
He will be acting alongside his seniors, who will also portray characters from the palace. Yoon Ki-won will take on the role of a court member, while Lee Tae-gum will play a eunuch.
“I’m more than happy to be able to be in the same drama as my respected seniors,” Yoon said through his agency. “We will do our best to make a good drama together.”
Meanwhile, Chae Seo-eun has just signed with a new agency. She will be playing the role of Hong Yeon, an aide of Queen Kim So-yong. This series will be the actress’ drama debut.
O&Entertainment announced on June 26 that the actress has just joined their agency through an exclusive contract. “[We] are glad to have actress Chae Seo-eun on board our agency. [She] is full of acting potential and positive energy,” said O&Entertainment. “As [her agency], [we] will spare [our] full support for her activities [and] various works.”
Like Yoon Jung-ro, Chae is also a student at the Korea National University of Arts and has been building up her acting career in different independent films.
Queen Cheorin will be directed by Yoon Sung-shik and penned by Park Gye-ok and Cho Ah-il. Other production information is yet to be announced.
