Park Joo-hyun courted to act opposite Lee Seung-gi in new sci-fi thriller series ‘Mouse’

tvN’s upcoming sci-fi thriller slash action drama Mouse has sent out an offer to rising actress Park Joo-hyun for a starring role opposite actor Lee Seung-gi.

Set in a highly advanced technological era, Mouse features the story of identifying future psychopaths through analyses of fetal DNA samples taken while babies are still inside the womb. It revolves around the dilemma that every expecting mother has to face: whether or not she will give birth to her child even after knowing that they may have the inherent genetic characteristics of a potential criminal.

Park Joo-hyun is in talks to portray a problematic high school student named Oh Bong-yi. Living alone with her grandmother, Bong-yi often gets herself into trouble for being bold, tough, and carefree, just like most young people nowadays.

After making her small-screen debut in the drama A Piece of Your Mind (2020), Park Joo-hyun went on to portray her first main role in Netflix’s Extracurricular (2020). Her remarkable performance in the said crime-themed youth series and talent helped her land a role in Choi Jin-hyuk’s upcoming mystery rom-com drama The Zombie Detective (2020). Recently, it appears as though the production team behind Mouse has also witnessed and is impressed with the star’s natural flair in the field of television acting.

If Park accepts the role, she will be joining Vagabond star Lee Seung-gi who previously confirmed to play the male protagonist Jung Ba-reum. His character works as a justice-seeking rookie police officer who will soon come face-to-face with an inborn psychotic killer. Following a series of gruesome and unsolved murders, the vile madman has thrown the entire nation into chaos. Actor Lee Hee-joon (Mistress) is reportedly reviewing a proposal to appear in the drama as well.

Mouse will be helmed by Choi Joon-bae, director of Come and Hug Me (2018) and penned by screenwriter Choi Ran of Black (2017). It is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2021.
