Park Hyung-sik and Ji-soo, the male leads of JTBC drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, will be giving out free hugs to select fans in Youngdeungpo’s Time Square on March 14, 2017. This is to fulfill the promises they have made prior to the show’s launch to hug 100 people if the drama achieves over 3 % in ratings.
Data from the Nielsen Korea show that the first episode of the drama achieved 3.83 % in nationwide viewer ratings and this number kept increasing after every episode until it reached 8.30 % during the second week. The ratings slightly drop to 7.11 % for the 5th episode but increased again to an all-time high of 8.69 % in its latest episode that was aired last night. All these numbers are well beyond the 3 % mark they set, so the two male leads have to hug 100 lucky fans this coming Tuesday. The recipients will be selected based on replies to JTBC’s official SNS account.
Park Bo-young, meanwhile, promised that she would accompany five lucky funs on their way home. She accomplished the task for the first winner on March 8 with the help of co-stars Im Won-hee and Kim Min-gyo. The footage of her interaction with the fan is expected to be available on JTBC’s website on March 17.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon airs every Fridays and Saturdays at 11 pm in South Korea. It will end on April 15 and will be followed by Man to Man on April 21.
