Actor Park Hae-jin has been cast as the lead actor in the upcoming drama Secret, his first romantic comedy series since his debut 13 years ago.
Secret is a romantic and healing drama about people with deep pains in their hearts who help each other to find their happiness. Its story will focus on Kang San-hyuk, to be played by Park, an ambitious and perfectionist member of a special rescue team who will do anything for honor and money. While he is blessed with great looks and a smart mind, he has lost his childhood memories.
Park has a lot of things in common with his character as he has been actively doing charity work since 2016. In November 2018, he was named an honorary firefighter by the National Emergency Management Agency.
Park Hae-jin made his acting debut in 2006 through the KBS weekend drama Famous Chil Princesses which earned him the Best New Actor prize at the 43rd Baeksang Arts Awards. He had appeared in at least 10 dramas since then—including popular series My Love From The Star, Cheese In The Trap, and Man to Man—but he has yet to star in a romantic comedy as the lead actor.
“As this is my first romantic comedy in 13 years as an actor, there are a lot of things I haven’t shown to viewers before,” Park said in an interview.
In talks to play the female protagonist in the series is Jo Bo-ah, who is known for her roles in Temperature of Love and My Strange Hero.
Secret’s production team will be led by director Oh Jong-rok of Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy and Style and screenwriter Lee Seon-young. Filming for the series will begin in the first half of 2019.
