SBS’s Do You Like Brahms? has recently revealed the stills from the upcoming musical series’ first table work, where lead stars Park Eun-bin and Kim Min-jae shared an incredible chemistry.
Do You Like Brahms? follows the individual journeys of brilliant students in a prestigious music school. It revolves around how they diligently started going through rigorous lessons, recitals, and competitions from a very young age and how their parents, as well as their mentors, obsess over the course of their careers. However, as they come of age and get a taste of true love and happiness, they become torn between their dreams and the realities of life. Each of them will face difficult challenges and make significant decisions as they strive to balance out their careers and personal relationships.
The drama’s first script reading took place at the SBS Tanhyeon Production Center last April. Spotted in the photos from the practice were main actors Park Eun-bin (Stove League) and Kim Min-jae (Dr. Romantic 2), who were joined by supporting cast members Kim Sung-cheol (Arthdal Chronicles), Park Ji-hyun (Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung), Lee Yoo-jin (Be Melodramatic), and Bae Da-bin (Arthdal Chronicles). Director Jo Young-min and screenwriter Ryu Bo-ri, who previously worked together in the short youth series Everything and Nothing (2019), were also among the attendees.
According to those around, Park Eun-bin easily melted into her character Chae Song-ah, an aspiring violinist and senior college student who is seven years older than her classmates. She remarkably conveyed feelings of confusion as Song-ah confronts career and love problems ahead of her graduation. Park’s enthusiasm in breathing life into her character resulted in an exciting transformation which she herself is looking forward to portraying in front of the camera.
Meanwhile, Kim Min-jae, who suits up as the world-renowned pianist Park Joon-young, was observed to be passionately engaged in playing his role. The actor gave off a warm, friendly personality and was able to convincingly capture Joon-young’s deep emotions.
Joining the two protagonists are cellist Han Hyun-ho (Kim Sung-cheol), violinist Lee Jung-kyung (Park Ji-hyun), Song-ah’s friend Kang Min-sung (Bae Da-bin), and Yoo Dong-yoon (Lee Yoo-jin), who all displayed each of their youthful charms as they portrayed characters who are going through the changes that likely occur in relationships, with a loved one or a friend, along the path towards fulfilling their ambitions.
In addition, experienced actors surrounded the young cast and showed their skills to the audience. Ye Soo-jung (A Piece of Your Mind) plays Na Moon-sook, head of the Kyung Hoo Cultural Foundation; Seo Jeong-yeon (Was It Love?) acts as the performance planner Cha Young-in; Joo Seok-tae (Find Me in Your Memory) takes on the role of Yoo Tae-jin, Joon-young’s piano teacher; and Choi Dae-hoon (Crash Landing on You) plays the character Park Sung-jae.
The production team for the drama said, “Coming to you this late summer and early autumn is the one-of-a-kind drama, Do You Like Brahms?, which features classical music and the entangled dramatic narratives of the young musicians playing it. The series is created with a fresh story and presents a pool of dedicated actors who are set take the viewers on an unforgettable emotional ride, so we would like to ask for your interest and support.”
Do You Like Brahms? is slated to premiere on August 31 at 10:00 p.m. KST as a Monday and Tuesday drama, replacing Good Casting.
