Park Bo-gum shares a close working relationship with Itaewon Class director Kim Sung-yoon, having starred in the latter’s 2016 historical drama Love in the Moonlight.

This will be Park’s first drama appearance in over a year since his leading role in the 2018-2019 romantic series Encounter opposite Song Hye-kyo. The actor is currently filming for the tvN drama Record of Youth with his co-star and Parasite actress Park So-dam. He is also in talks to star in the movie Wonderland along with Bae Suzy, Gong Yoo, and Choi Woo-shik.

Itaewon Class follows an ex-convict’s struggle (Park Seo-joon) for making his dreams a reality and taking revenge on a powerful person (Yoo Jae-myung) who ruined his life. He opens a pub in a popular tourist destination in Seoul and decides to expand his business with the help of his loyal friends (Kim Da-mi, Ryoo Kyung-soo, Lee Joo-young, and Chris Lyon). It has already become the second-highest-rated JTBC drama after SKY Castle.
