Pan Entertainment signs 14B co-prod deal with Studio Dragon for Park Bo-gum starrer drama ‘The Moment’

Pan Entertainment and Studio Dragon have joined houses in producing tvN’s highly anticipated youth series The Moment, which features lead stars Park Bo-gum (Encounter), Park So-dam (Cinderella and the Four Knights), and Byeon Woo-seok (Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency).

On May 18, Pan Entertainment announced that they have signed a co-production contract with Studio Dragon for The Moment amounting to 14 billion KRW (approximately 11.4 million USD). This is part of the company’s plans of diversifying their intellectual property development and distribution across terrestrial, cable, and general channels as well as expand their audience reach through partnerships with Netflix and other over-the-top (OTT) media service platforms.

Pan Entertainment is the company behind Winter Sonata (2002), the drama that is credited for the spread of Hallyu wave across Asia and many other parts of the globe. Included in their growing slate of popular series are Moon Embracing the Sun (2012), Fight for My Way (2017), and most recently Never Twice (2019–2020).

Meanwhile, Studio Dragon is a large company that not only ventures in drama production but also in distribution and marketing. They have previously taken part in successful associated production works with various companies such as Legend of the Blue Sea (2016–2017), Crash Landing on You (2019–2020), and The King: Eternal Monarch (ongoing).

The Moment (also known as Youth Record) follows the lives of three young people who are trying to make their way in the fashion industry. They come from humble beginnings. Thus, despite facing the struggles brought about by not having affluent backgrounds, their passion for the craft drives them to continue reaching for their dreams.

Helming the series is director Ahn Gil-ho, who is lauded for his creativity in Memories of the Alhambra (2018–2019) and Watcher (2019), and in charge of penning the script is screenwriter Ha Myung-hee of Temperature of Love (2017).

The Moment is aiming to broadcast in the second half of 2020.

AuroraBae is a news and feature writer for Kdramapal. She first fell in love with Kdramas by watching Winter Sonata as a kid but it wasn’t until Secret Garden that she became an official fan. Now, she spends more time watching Kdramas in her home in Cebu (yes, Bisaya ni bai) and Kdramapal provides her a platform to write about them as a means of living. How cool is that? And oh, she obviously loves the northern lights too!
