Set against the breathtaking mountain ranges of South Korea’s second-highest peak, Jiri Mountain will tell the stories of people who have decided to go beyond the trail and climb unexplored areas within the Jirisan National Park, unsuspecting of any danger that could fall upon them. Luckily, a group of brave mountain rangers is prepared to put their lives on the line to rescue all distressed trekkers.
Oh Jung-se has signed up for the role of Jung Gu-yeong, a ranger whose life motto is “If I live, then others can live.” A little bit peculiar, Gu-yeong leaves work on the dot, often takes vacations, and almost always suddenly disappears before he is dismissed.
Oh is popularly known for his commendable portrayals in hit series such as When the Camellia Blooms (2019), Stove League (2019), It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (2020), and The Good Detective (2020). In the new series, he is expected to show strong synergy with lead actors Jun Ji-hyun (The Legend of the Blue Sea), who will play the experienced mountain ranger Seo Yi-gang, Ju Ji-hoon (Hyena), who will transform into the mysterious newbie ranger Kang Hyun-jo, and veteran actor Sung Dong-il (The Cursed), who will suit up as Haedong Office, Jirisan National Park branch director Cho Dae-jin.
Jiri Mountain will be spearheaded by director Lee Eung-bok of Descendants of the Sun (2016), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017), and Mr. Sunshine (2018), as well as by screenwriter Kim Eun-hee of Netflix’s Kingdom saga (2019, 2020). It is scheduled to begin filming this month and targets to air in 2021.
