The Cursed, an occult thriller that is written by movie director Yeon Sang-ho of Train To Busan, has dropped a mysterious, suspense-filled first teaser.
Previously called Method, the upcoming series stars Sung Dong-il (Trap) and Uhm Ji-won (Spring Turns To Spring). Sung Dong-il plays the chairman of Forest, one of the biggest IT companies in South Korea, while Uhm Ji-won portrays a righteous journalist who is on a mission to expose Sung’s company for practicing shamanism. During her investigation, she discovers a strange Forest-affiliated firm that offers spiritual consulting services and crosses paths with a teenager who has special spiritual abilities.
Jung Ji-so (Hwajung) and Jo Min-soo (Goddess Of Marriage) take on the role of the teenager and the head of the spiritual consulting company, respectively.
The 15-second teaser begins with the image of a dark moonlit night, as temple bells and shamanic chants sound in the background. Several disturbing clips flash by in quick succession—a traditional Korean shamanic ritual in progress, Sung Dong-il’s eerie gaze, Uhm Ji-won looking worried during a phone call, Jung Ji-so being possessed, a house on fire, and a bloody hand on the ground. The music then switches to a fast-paced beat as Jo Min-soo appears on the screen.
The Cursed is the first drama written by movie writer and director Yeon Sang-ho, who directed the 2016 critically-acclaimed zombie thriller films Train To Busan and Seoul Station as well as the 2018 fantasy comedy Psychokinesis. Kim Yong-wan, who directed the 2018 movie Champion, is directing the series.
The Cursed will air every Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Korean Standard Time beginning February 10, following the conclusion of Seo Hyun-jin and Ra Mi-ran’s Black Dog.
