In the preview stills, the said character is seen as a woman in black, leather jacket, with her hair neatly tied and her eyes lined with eyeliner. The producers of the Sci-fi drama stated how important her character is in weaving the story of the three timelines together. They said, “Gong Seung-yeon’s appearance in 2037 is a hidden card. It will bring on a whole new wave of impact and add tension to the story. As a link between 2007, 2017, and 2037, Gong Seung-yeon’s existence is a central key to the unfolding mystery. Please look forward to her performance on the episodes to come.”

The 4th episode of the drama hints at the possibility that Han Jung-yeon is the one behind the computer hacker called “Bluebird”, and that she is really an alien considering that her looks remain the same after 20 years.

Han Jung-yeon’s character appears in the first episode as an alien who takes the form of a female human witnessed by the young brothers, Kim Woo-jin and Kim Beom-gyun. This childhood memory severely affected the brothers and has continued to do so especially when a series of suicide cases occur at the university where Kim Woo-jin is enrolled.

Circle is set in two different timelines, the present (2017) and the future (2037). A different kind of city exists in the year 2037 and is called the “Smart City.” It boasts of being crime-free thanks to its ‘calming system’ capable of suppressing human emotions that could lead to crime. In contrast to this ideal living place is the “General City, ” a place characterized by lawlessness and extreme air pollution.

Circle also stars Yeo Jin-goo (The Royal Gambler), Ahn Woo-yeon (Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon), Kim Kang-woo (Goodbye Mr. Black), and Lee Ki-kwang (Monster) of Kpop idol Highlight. The much-awaited 5th episode of the drama will air tonight at 23:00 p.m. KST.
