Upcoming big-budget period drama Mr. Sunshine released a new poster featuring its main couple, Lee Byung-hun (Iris) and Kim Tae-ri (The Handmaiden). The poster shows them covering each other’s lower part of the face. Mr. Sunshine tells the story of a Korean-born American soldier (played by Lee Byung-hun) who, when he was a child, was taken to the United States in 1871 after a U.S. military expedition to Korea turned into armed conflict and killed hundreds of Koreans. He then returns to his home country later on as a US marine officer and fall in love with a young noblewoman played by Kim Tae-ri.
Mr. Sunshine previously released character posters for its five main characters. The series is written and directed by the director-writer pair (Lee Eung-bok and Kim Eun-sook) who produced Descendants of the Sun and Goblin. It will premiere on July 7, replacing Lawless Lawyer on its time slot.
