Netflix has officially confirmed the powerful cast lineup for The House of Paper, the Korean remake of the hit series Money Heist!
La Casa de Papel, internationally known as Money Heist, is a Spanish TV series that first aired in 2017. It centers on a mysterious man known as “The Professor,” who assembles a group of talented criminals with city names as aliases to commit the biggest heist in recorded history.
When My Love Blooms (2020) star Yoo Ji-tae will be leading the cast, as well as the group in the drama, as “The Professor,” a criminal mastermind and a mysterious person with genius-level intelligence. He is known as Sergio Marquina in the original drama. As the brain and backbone of the operation, he is always calm and collected, and all of the members depend on him to back them up in critical situations. Starring opposite him is Kim Yun-jin (Miss Ma, Nemesis) as Seon Woo-jin, the head of the crisis negotiation team of the National Police Agency. Her character is known as Inspector Raquel Murillo in the original drama.
Meanwhile, Park Hae-soo (Prison Playbook) is set to play The Professor’s ambitious brother, Berlin. He is the second-in-command of the group who makes the call when The Professor is unavailable. He does not associate himself with anyone in the team and only cares about the success of the operation. Rising rookie Jeon Jong-seo (The Call, film) will play Tokyo, a bold thief who specializes in different forms of fighting, including shooting and close-range combat. She also serves as the drama’s narrator. Lee Won-jong (L.U.C.A: The Beginning) has also joined the cast as Moscow, an ex-convict who specializes in mining. Denver, who is the son of Moscow in the original drama, will be played by Flower of Evil (2020) star Kim Ji-hoon. Park Jung-woo (Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation) will portray Rio, who serves as the group’s hacker and tech expert. Jang Yoon-ju (Three Sisters, film) has been given the role of Nairobi, who specializes in counterfeiting and forgery. In the Spanish version, she is in charge of the money printing and gold melting. Kim Ji-hoon (The Good Detective) and Lee Gyu-ho (Dr. Romantic 2) will play the cousins Helsinki and Oslo, who, in the original series, are veteran Serbian soldiers.
Park Myung-hoon (Crash Landing on You) will play Cho Young-min, the director of the Mint Bureau and is one of the hostages. In the original drama, he is known as Arturo Roman, who had a secret affair with Monica Gaztambide. In the adaptation, Monica is the accountant Yun Mi-seon, to be played by Lee Joo-bin (She Would Never Know). Lastly, Kim Sung-oh (L.U.C.A.: The Beginning) will portray Captain Cha Moo-hyuk, a former special agent dispatched to pose as one of the hostages.
The House of Paper will consist of 12 episodes and will be released exclusively on Netflix.
