Nara joins Namgoong Min in medical series ‘Doctor Prisoner’

Hello Venus member Kwon Nara (more popularly known by her stage name Nara) will appear in the new medical series Doctor Prisoner starring Namgoong Min, as confirmed by the announcement made by the drama’s producer on January 15.

Doctor Prisoner centers around a brilliant surgeon who gets fired from his job at a large hospital and ends up working as a doctor in a prison. Namgoong Min (The Undateables) will be playing the brilliant surgeon named Dr. Nah Yi-jae whose passion for his job and concern for his patients are unmatched by any other doctor in the hospital. He has a decent job at a renowned medical facility but things start to go awry for him when a medical malpractice incident involving the hospital board director occurs. He then applies to work at a prison with the ultimate goal of getting revenge against the hospital that ousted him.

Meanwhile, Nara will be playing Han So-geum, a kindhearted psychiatrist who works at a hospital and volunteers at the prison where Dr. Nah is working. Doctor Prisoner is her first ever medical drama, the latest addition to her previous shows that include Your Honor, My Ajusshi, and Suspicious Partner.

The idol-turned-actress expressed her excitement and nervousness about collaborating with Namgoong Min, admitting that she has always been a fan of the actor. In addition, she mentioned that she will work hard to prepare for the series and repay the viewers with her good performance so that they can enjoy watching the drama.

Doctor Prisoner will be directed by PD Hwang In-hyuk of Laurel Tree Tailors and Assembly. It is scheduled to be broadcast on KBS2 beginning March 2019.
