MBC reveals teaser posters for “Ruler: Master of the Mask”
New teaser posters were released for the upcoming MBC drama Ruler: Master of the Mask starring Yoo Seung-ho (Remember: War of the Sons) and Kim So-hyun (Goblin). The drama is set in the 1700s and focuses on Crown Prince Lee Sun, played by Yoo. He fights against Pyunsoo hwe, an organization that has amassed power and wealth by privatizing the wter supply in Joseon. Kim So-hyun plays the role of Lee Ga-eun, the woman whom he loves and helps him grow as a good ruler.
The three posters released by MBC on April 10 contain captions and are presented in a way that make the upcoming historical drama more intriguing.
The first poster (above) reads a quote that seems to be coming from the Crown Prince himself: “What do I have to do, if I want to change the wrong world?” Two people in their gonryongpo attire (red and blue royal robes for the reigning king and the crown prince, respectively) are also seen in the poster holding a mask each.
The two individuals in the first poster are also seen in the posters below. The only difference in these posters is that the one holding the goldish-brown mask has taken off his robe, revealing a person of lower status during the Joseon period. Both posters read: ““I am Lee Sun who is the Crown Prince of Joseon.” Considering this, it seems that the two people shown in all the posters represent one person only and that is the crown prince Lee Sun.
Ruler: Master of the Mask is directed by No Do-cheol and written by Park Hye-jin. The first script reading for the drama took place on December 23, 2016 at MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, Seoul, South Korea. It will air on May 10, 2017, taking over the Wednesday and Thursday time slot currently filled by workplace comedy drama Radiant Office.
