KakaoTV’s most-awaited original web series City Couple’s Way of Love: My Lovable Camera Thief has unveiled the complicated relationships between its main cast in six moving posters.
City Couple’s Way of Love is a seasonal web series that features different romantic stories of urban couples who strive to make it together amid the hustle and bustle of city living. Its first installment subtitled My Lovable Camera Thief follows architect Park Jae-won (Ji Chang-wook, Backstreet Rookie), a hopeless romantic, and freelance marketer Lee Eun-oh (Kim Ji-won, Arthdal Chronicles), a woman whose life has been very far from her job description. They cross paths in a strange place and share a connection so deep that when they had to snap back to reality, their hearts fail to forget each other.
The live posters open to a thought-provoking statement from KakaoTV that says, “One day, we were curious about the relationships between urban men and women.” Then, six posters stack beside and on top of one another to bring all main characters in one frame. By their varied facial expressions, it can be inferred that the group has mixed feelings about the question above, which read, “What type of woman/man do you get along with?”
Kicking it off with the guys, the camera zooms in on Park Jae-won. His mind is obviously taking a trip down memory lane to remember that “camera thief” whom he had unexpectedly grown fond of. Giving away his confused state, he answered honestly, “Strong woman? I’m drawn to a weird lady.”
Choi Kyung-joon (Kim Min-seok, Because This Is My First Life), who is a self-confessed cynic about almost anything on the planet, reveals that his girlfriend means a whole new world to him by immediately saying, “For me, it’s Rin. I’m unconditionally Rin’s,” referring to his long-time lover Seo Rin-yi.
Last one from the guys’ team is Kang Geon’s (Ryu Kyung-soo, Itaewon Class) whose response goes, “All of them. I’ve dated a lot,” which shows his overflowing confidence in building connections with women. Ironically though, he has remained a bachelor until now.
Meanwhile, the ladies’ corner has given equally as intriguing answers. First up, Lee Eun-oh utters, “Well…there’s this man whom I can’t forget,” hinting that Park Jae-won might not be the only one who’s caught feelings after all.
Seo Rin-yi (So Joo-yeon, Dr. Romantic 2) seems to be at a loss for words after she heard the question, unlike her boyfriend who gave an instantaneous and definite answer. Looking completely clueless about what to say, she ended up mumbling, “What type of man…erm…,” which is eventually translated into a series of question marks. Her doubtful response does not automatically mean that she takes her boyfriend for granted. It could be that her unpredictable personality simply prefers living happily in the present, regardless of who shows up at her side at a given time.
Completing the entire set of moving posters, Oh Sun-young (Han Ji-eun, Kkondae Intern) takes the spotlight and voices out matter-of-factly, “All men. They’re all the same.” Based on the tension that suddenly filled the air, it’s not unlikely that her words were intended to throw shade over her ex-boyfriend Kang Geon.
City Couple’s Way of Love: My Lovable Camera Thief is helmed by director Park Shin-woo of the hit drama It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (2020) and is produced by Story & Pictures Media. Co-penning the script are screenwriters Jung Hyun-jung of Romance Is a Bonus Book (2019) and Jung Da-yeon. The 12-episode web series is slated to premiere exclusively on KakaoTV and air every Tuesday at 5 p.m. KST beginning December 8.
