The most puzzling questions that we have had over the last few episodes of Lovestruck in the City are: (1) What really is Eun-oh’s (Kim Ji-won) deal? (2) Why couldn’t she just meet Jae-won (Ji Chang-wook), ask for forgiveness, and explain why she did the things she did, when it’s fairly obvious that he loves her beyond imperfections and faults?, and (3) Girl, who hurt you?
Because the only plausible reason behind her animosity towards Jae-won is that she’s been hurt so badly before that she can no longer allow herself to go through the same pain ever again. Perhaps, Episode 10, Lee Eun-oh? Lee Eun-oh!, will shed some light on our common curiosities.
Eun-ho is having second thoughts
Remember when in Episode 7, Jae-won and Eun-oh attempted to let go of their summer love symbolically by getting rid of their couple surfboards? You’d probably also recall that Eun-oh’s surfboard ended up in the hands of an employee at the community center who kept it. After the emotional ordeal with Jae-won outside the police station, our girl realizes that if there’s one person who has helped her find her true self, it is him. So, on top of retrieving Jae-won’s ring, she has also been visiting the community center in hopes of getting her board back. After being pestered by her sincerity and desperation, the employee returns the board.
Jae-won catches the camera thief
When Jae-won shares the exciting news about catching his camera thief, our four other lead characters cannot believe it. Jae-won recounts, “It was all a lie,” before adding, “Even her name was fake.” Meanwhile, amazed at every scoop that reaches his ears, Kang Geon (Ryu Kyung-soo) pisses off Eun-oh, the camera thief herself, by suggesting that she be thrown in jail. Ah! What a grand reveal it will be when he finally finds out that he’s been speaking ill of none other than his roommate slash best friend. Should we just go ahead now and find him a room-for-rent in Seoul?
Eun-oh’s past is revealed
Eun-oh’s past turns up in the form of Jae-won’s client, a married man with a stylish wife and a cute baby. As luck would have it, Rin-yi (So Joo-yeon) and Kyung-joon (Kim Min-seok) are also at the meeting. When the husband spots Kyung-joon, he stops dead in his tracks. Kyung-joon thunders, “You’re married? You’re baby’s already nine months old? You rascal.” Jae-won and the wife both get shocked when Rin-yi hits the guy before revealing, “It was only yesterday you were going to marry Eun-oh but your baby’s already nine months old?”
Turns out that Eun-oh’s ex cheated on her in the home they had shared, and Eun-oh had found out, which was why she disappeared for three months. It is infuriating, but in arguably the series’ most satisfying slo-mo scene so far, Rin-yi grabs a bottle of fizzy soft drink, shakes it like a lunatic before firing it on him like a fully-loaded machine gun. It is becoming clear why Kyung-joon is head-over-heels for this woman. She’s sweet yet fierce, innocent but brave.
Jae-won tries getting in touch with Eun-oh
Seems like we’ll finally be seeing the ultimate reveal next week! Episode 10 closes with Jae-won calling Eun-oh’s work number and finding out that Seon-a, whose real name is Eun-oh, is the same person as Rin-yi’s marketer best friend! Only, he also hears Kang Geon’s voice in the background, so he now thinks that Eun-oh is in a relationship with another man. Oops.
One thing is for sure, it’s about time for the group to meet the camera thief, don’t you agree?!
